– ”Kom med meg. Jeg har bil”.
Sofia vinker oss med, men først må vi stanse ved skiltet utenfor flyplassterminalen, skiltet som viser avstander til mange steder i verden, også Sydpolen og Nordpolen. Vi er for øvrig fortsatt over ett hundre og tretti mil fra Nordpolen, men nittifem mil nord for Tromsø.
– ”Vi kjører først til leiligheten min og deretter opp til Huset”.
Nå er det vår yngste datter som har styringen. Dette er hennes domene, og vi lar oss styre. Leiligheten ligger i annen etasje, høyt oppe ved foten av et fjell de kaller Sukkertoppen, og fra det største vinduet ser hun utover Isfjorden. En praktfull utsikt.
Snøscootere står overalt, også hennes, men den skal hentes og gis service og lagres til scootersesongen starter i februar. Noen sier at scooterkløen starter allerede før jul, mens andre advarer mot dette, fordi det er så mørkt. Vi som oppholder oss her i sør og ønsker å oppleve scooterturer, får vente til mars eller april.
Klokken er over fire om ettermiddagen, og vi har vært på restauranthuset ved navn Huset og hilst på flere av Sofias kolleger. Nå er vi på vei nedover igjen, nedover til sentrum for å handle mat siden hun har overlatt leiligheten sin til oss, mens hun og søsteren skal bruke et rom i annen etasje i Huset.
Klokken har blitt over syv før vi er tilbake i leiligheten. Å besøke sentrum i Longyearbyen med Sofia, betyr å hilse på en drøss med mennesker, noe vi trenger mye tid til. Alle er hyggelige, så dette er en stor fornøyelse.
Klokken nærmer seg åtte når vi er på vei oppover til Huset der vi skal spise en fireretters for å feire Sofias fødselsdag som er i dag 20. juni. Kokkene er av ypperste nasjonal klasse, så forventningene er svært store hos oss alle, men det verken Sofia eller vi vet, er at vi skal få en svært hyggelig overraskelse.
Litt over klokken åtte om kvelden blir vi fulgt til vinkjelleren av Husets sommelier eller vinkelner der vi får en flott presentasjon av Husets berømte vinkjeller, mens vi samtidig får nyte en av stedets utsøkte champagner.
Like før klokken ni sitter vi i Husets restaurant og nyter den første delen av stedets fire retters Arktiske Meny med tilpassede viner. Denne menyen finner du på www.huset.com.
To timer senere sier vi takk for maten til et sted som slår alt av det vi har opplevd tidligere når det gjelder mat og matpresentasjon. Kombinasjonen av spennende mat, tilpasset vin, presentasjon og den intimiteten restaurantrommet gir, er bare fantastisk.
– ”Jeg følte meg så helt avslappet”, kommenterer min kjære etterpå.
Klokken halv tolv sier vi takk for oss og setter kursen nedover i retning av sentrum. Været er lettskyet men det er like lyst som det har vært siden vi kom hit opp. Jentene skal feiringen ute på by’n, mens vi som synes at natten skal brukes til å sove, skilles ved veien som går mot gate 222 der Sofia har leiligheten sin.

Speaking to reporters on Friday, German Chancellor Angela Merkel described the bailout deal for Greece agreed by European Union leaders in Brussels as «good.»

Tilford says doing so means addressing fundamental problems not only facing Greece, but the 17-member eurozone as a whole.
«Going forward, one of two things have to happen within the eurozone,» added Tilford. «Either they bite the bullet and they forge some fiscal union that is they have a federal budget whereby countries with stronger public finances transfer moneys to those with weaker public finances.»
Or, Tilford says EU leaders should address the huge trade imbalances within the eurozone marked by strong exporters like Germany and weak ones like Greece.
Janis Emmanouilidis, senior policy analyst for the Brussels-based European Policy Center, agrees the European Union must address fundamental imbalances within the eurozone if the monetary union is to remain intact.

«I think the member states will come out of the crisis,» said Emmanouilidis. «I’m not saying in total. I’m not saying some of the member states won’t face even more severe problems. In the Greek case we don’t know how the case will in the end start to develop.»
If the EU resolves its eurozone debt problems, analysts like Emmanouilidis believe the block could emerge strengthened from the experience. If not, some analysts fear the decade-old currency zone may not survive, at least not in its current form.

The websites of the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) and the Cultural Ministry became the latest victims of a string of hacker attacks Friday.
Statistics agency IBGE’s homepage was replaced by an image file and a warning that this month Brazil would be the target of the worst hacker attacks in its history. The culprit, a group called Fireh4ck3r, claimed the attacks were a form of protest of a nationalist group to make Brazil «a better country.»
The group said there was no place for groups «without any ideology,» such as LulzSec in Brazil, a group that had targeted some governmental websites earlier this week.
In an official statement, IBGE assured that the agency’s database was not affected, though it was taken offline for a full analysis of the attack.

Moreover, the Cultural Ministry said its website had suffered an invasion attempt, but no data was stolen.
The series of attacks is unprecedented, and the IBGE and the Cultural Ministry are only the latest in a series of federal websites targeted by several hacker groups.
The attacks started last Saturday, when a group called Fatal Error Crew broke into the Brazilian Army website and leaked personal data over 1,000 personnel. The group also made the presidency’s website a target in early January.
On Wednesday, hackers from the LulzSecBrasil group targeted the presidency’s site, as well as a portal providing general information on Brazil and the Federal Revenues Secretariat page.
However, government data processing organ Serpro stated that the attacks were unsuccessful and the hackers did not manage to get access to any data.

Then on Thursday, the Sport Ministry was attacked. Hackers claimed they obtained information regarding fraud in the 2014 World Cup and 2016 Olympic Games, but the ministry said the data was false. The ministry’s website is already back online after an overhaul.

California Legislature ended prolonged wrangling and passed an austerity budget Tuesday night that would enforce sweeping cuts, from education to funding for the poor.
The University of California and California State University systems face about a 23-percent funding cut, among the steepest in the proposal, according to The Los Angeles Times.

This is the second budget passed by the Legisture in as many weeks. Governor Jerry Brown vetoed the first but is expected to sign the new package before a fresh budget year begins Friday. Brown lost his months-long bid to win enough Republican votes to extend temporary taxes that would have helped balance the books. Instead, he forged a deal with Democrats, who do not have enough votes on their own to raise taxes.
As a result, temporary sales and vehicle tax hikes enacted in 2009 will officially come off the books Friday.

Though Republicans had balked at raising taxes, Democrats did push through some new charges without GOP support. Goods purchases by Californians from online stores such as Amazon.com would now be subject to state sales taxes. Living in wildfire zones where the state provides firefighters would cost homeowners about 150 dollars annually. And yearly car registration fees would rise by 12 dollars.
Those levies, however, would raise only 550 million dollars, a fraction of California’s remaining 10-billion-dollar deficit. An accounting move – delaying payment of nearly three billion in school monies – would fill much of the shortfall, at least temporarily, The Times said.

Democrats would wipe away the biggest portion of the deficit with the extra 4 billion dollars their budget assumes will come in. Without that money, even deeper cuts would be triggered automatically. The first reductions would be to universities, libraries, prisons and services for the needy and disabled. Community college fees would bump up another 10 dollars per unit, the report said.
If less than half of the 4 billion dollars materializes, school districts could shorten the instructional year by up to seven days or find other ways to save 1.5 billion, and state-provided school buses would be mothballed, saving 248 million, according to The Times.
